As its name implies the RDA North Region covers the four most Northerly Counties of England from beautiful Cumbria in the West with its famous Lake District across the Pennines to County Durham in the East with its famous cathedral city, then North through the busy Tyne & Wear conurbation to Northumberland with its magnificent castles and beaches.
Within this vast region there are 15 Groups offering riding and/or carriage driving for adults and/or children. These groups range from a full time RDA Centre in Tyne & Wear to smaller groups meeting once a week, and one venue offering RDA holidays. The groups are separated into 3 County Areas, with their own County Chairman and County Instructor.
Our groups provide for about 600 riders and a small number of carriage drivers, aided by over 400 volunteer helpers. This makes for more than 10,000 rides/drives per year for the benefit of our rider and drivers health and well being!
Apart from Tyne & Wear it is an area where sheep outnumber people and the scenary is breathtaking. It is over 200 miles from the South West of Cumbria to the North East of Northumberland. However groups enjoy getting together for competitions, training and other events such as our regional AGM.
